Your Body Belongs To You’ Awareness about self and the importance of taking care of ones self should be given at a very tender age. The tiny tots are more susceptible to falling prey to the unsafe hands and environment. So, it becomes our duty to educate them about their safety. To develop a bond between the teacher and the children and to educate them about the safe and unsafe environment a workshop on Good Touch and Bad Touch was conducted by Mr. Vijaybhai Gohil (Child Right Activist) on 12th September, 2023 for the children of Gajera Vidhyabhavan, Utran. It was conducted to create awareness on child safety and to teach them how they can keep themselves protected against dangers from an early age, so that they could differentiate between good touch and bad touch. The children responded very well and developed confidence to confide in their parents and teachers about what’s happening around them. It is the growing concern among parents and teachers about the safety of children which has forced Surat schools to drop their tight-lipped approach towards sex education and teach the children about safe and unsafe touches. Every single day, the media reports cases where young children, both boys and girls, are sexually abused by an adult around them. Every child needs to be taught that their body belongs to them and they have a right to protect it. With this in mind, and knowing that most of the children may not even be knowing when they are abused, the Gajera Vidhyabhavan, Utran, Dr. Geeta Savaliya, Dr. Ila Meghani, Dr Shraddha Dholiya and Ms. Nipa Kumari encouraged and conduct a basic awareness programme on this theme.
