At GVU, Prep section, we recently celebrated Healthy Lifestyle Week with a variety of engaging activities to promote the importance of good nutrition and physical well-being among our young learners. The week was filled with fun and educational events that encouraged children to make healthy choices and adopt healthy habits.
We kicked off the week with a "Fruits Day" where learners were encouraged to bring their favorite fruits to school. They came in fruit dress up. They also decorated fruit dishes. Educators talked about the benefits of eating fruits and the importance of including them in their daily diet via playing a small skit on healthy and unhealthy foods. Learners enjoyed tasting different fruits and learning about their nutritional value.
The following day was dedicated to "Vegetables Day" where children were encouraged to try different raw vegetables and learn about their importance in maintaining a balanced diet. Educators organized interactive activities to make vegetables fun and appealing to the children.
The learners prepared healthy dishes like Bhakhari pizza, Corn Bhel, sprouts Salad, Roti Salad, Mix Pulses Bhel, Makhana Bhel, Apple Corn Salad, Avocado Tacos, Sprouts Basket and many more using easy and quick recipes. They explained the entire process of making healthy dishes along with the nutrition value of the food in their own language and style to the judges. They served the dishes in an artistic and aesthetic way which was most appealing and the display was a visual treat tickling the taste. They participated joyfully and enthusiastically in the competition, fostering creativity and healthy habits.
One of the highlights of the week was a special "Bhaji Day" where learners were encouraged to eat a healthy version of the popular Indian dish, pav bhaji, made with lots of vegetables .They brought chapatti, puri, paratha, bhakhri etc. from home and enjoyed it with bhaji. It not only encouraged healthy eating but also introduced new flavors and textures.
To promote physical well-being, we also organized a yoga session for the learners. Educators led the learners through a series of simple yoga poses ,animal poses and breathing exercises, teaching them the importance of relaxation and mindfulness.
Conclusion: Healthy Lifestyle Week at our preschool was a wonderful opportunity to instill the importance of good nutrition and physical well-being in our young ones. Through engaging activities, interactive sessions, and fun competitions, we were able to promote healthy choices and habits in a way that was both educational and enjoyable for the learners. By emphasizing the benefits of fruits, vegetables, and physical activity, we hope to have planted the seeds for a lifetime of healthy living among our students. As we continue to prioritize health and well-being in our curriculum, we look forward to seeing our children grow into happy, healthy individuals who understand the value of taking care of their bodies.
