During the conflict, the Indian Navy initiated Operation Trident on the night of December 4th. The mission was an attack on the Karachi harbor, targeting Pakistan’s naval fleet. The Indian Navy successfully sank several Pakistani ships, crippling the naval forces and severely impacting Pakistan’s maritime capabilities.
Operation Trident was launched by the Indian Navy on December 4-5, 1971, during the Indo-Pakistani War. The Indian Navy boldly responded with Operation Trident, showing remarkable courage and determination. Following this, the Indian Navy also launched Operation Python. Operation Trident was the code name for a daring naval attack on Karachi, Pakistan’s port city, carried out by the Indian Navy, according to a Business Standard report.
