National Farmer’s Day, popularly called Kisan Diwas, is widely celebrated in India on 23rd December. National Farmer’s Day is observed to honor the dedication, struggle and sacrifice of the Indian farmers.
Besides paying rich tributes to former Prime Minister Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh, we at Gajera Vidyabhavan, Utran Prep section celebrated Farmers Day. The celebrations aimed to create awareness among the learners on the importance of farmers and farming for a healthy and prosperous nation and to promote healthy eating and value food. Learners came in farmers dress up.
Educators made a village, giving them an idea about the life of the farmers, they get to see in a real one. Different food items made from wheat, Bajra, Jawar and Rice were displayed. Educators and learners sang a song and played drama to tribute the farmers and their hard work. They also took the opportunity to inform students about the importance of farmers and the tools they use.
They also organized the plantation drive at school, sowed seeds of Fenugreek ( Methi) and whilst encouraging them to surge their interest in farming and made them experience how plants grow. Various activities done by the learners like plucking, washing, cutting and making Fenugreek Fritters with help of cafeteria staff.
Learners had the opportunity to visit the farm and to explore the world of agriculture firsthand. They learned about the process of how crops grow, from planting seeds to harvesting the produce. The students were fascinated by how farmers care for their crops and ensure they thrive in different seasons. They got to see these tools up close, including plows, tractors, and irrigation systems, which help make farming more efficient Overall, the visit was an enriching experience for the learners.
These programs were a reminder for all to go back to the agricultural culture to save the culture and be grateful towards the farmers. In the end they took oath to respect food and not waste food. Thus, the day became fruitful, colorful and most memorable.
The Farmers' Day celebration was a resounding success, leaving students with a deeper understanding of agriculture's importance and fostering respect for those who work tirelessly to feed us all. It was a day filled with learning, joy, and appreciation for the farming community.
