“A story can imbibe the right value in the most impressionable age”. It’s the stories that give wings to our imagination and take us to places beyond our physical world. Storytelling is a universal and traditional art form that has featured strongly in Indian culture as an effective communication tool. It can be used to inform, entertain and educate. It is often used as a medium to ingrain values, improving reading skills and opening the minds of children to worlds beyond imagination.
Since time immemorial, storytelling has been an integral part of our childhood. To keep the tradition going and to incite curiosity and love for reading in children, a story telling competition was organised for the Learners of Std 3rd & 4th. The theme of the competition was based on “Ramayana”. The young vibrant storytellers dressed themselves as Lord Rama, Lord Lakshmana, Goddess Sita, Sabri, Hanuman etc, and came forth with wonderful tales. The stories reflected the moral values, being humble, speaking truth, seeking goodness for others etc. The little story tellers won everyone’s heart and were applauded. The participants were adjudged on the basis of props, costume, expression, confidence and presentation skills of the children.
